South Live Oak Elementary School opened in August of 1993. The mission of South Live Oak Elementary is to prepare our children for life in a contemporary society by helping each child achieve his/her maximum potential through intellectual, physical, and social development.
South Live Oak Elementary serves approximately 500 students in grades kindergarten through five. The experienced and dedicated staff and faculty serve the students in a highly technical school. We have a variety of programs to meet the needs of individual students and to hold everyone to high standards of teaching and learning.
There has been an increased use of volunteers in our school. Our children have benefited from the wonderful support of the "Rocket Boosters." Parent communication is also very important. We send monthly newsletters, a comprehensive school handbook, and progress reports home as well as have conferences on a regular basis.
We are very proud of our school for being recognized as a school of Academic Achievement in Louisiana for the past seven years in Louisiana's Accountability System.
